Standardized testing can be one of the more intimidating parts of the application process. But don’t worry! If you stick to VIZE’s recommended testing timeline, you’ll have everything squared away in time!
First for the coming application season, the terms “test-optional” and “test-blind” are extremely important to differentiate. Test-optional schools will consider any submitted scores as part of an application packet, and VIZE recommends that you at least try to increase your performance to median-level scores for those schools, preferably the 75th percentile. Test-blind schools, by contrast, will not consider standardized testing scores as part of any application. It’s extremely unlikely that all of the colleges in your list will be entirely test-blind, so it’s a good idea to plan as if you’ll need to take either the SAT or ACT at some point.
